The Twin Cities Museum of Contemporary Art's (TCMOCA) educational opportunities offer the public contextual concepts and history that impact social, economic, political, and environmental topics. Currently, our organization currently works through outreach efforts in our local Twin Cities community, participating in various arts and environment related events and educational programs. TCMOCA also engages in various gallery talks by participating artists, curators, architects, designers and other stakeholders interested in both creative work and sustainability. Keep up on our 'Events' page for up to date information! __________________________________________________________________________________________ In 2008, TCMOCA co-sponsored the Neighborhood Sustainability Conference at Augsburg College that was attended by Mayor Rybak and Mayor Coleman. TCMOCA exhibited its collection at The Christensen Center Art Gallery. Our collaboration with artists like David Feinberg (University of Minnesota, Department of Art) and David Parker (Physician at Park Nicollet) helped to insure a multidisciplinary approach to the visual arts. Our past shows highlight artists whose work range from child labor, environmental sustainability, new media landscape, architecture, and design. __________________________________________________________________________________________ The planned bricks and mortar sustainable art museum will host an artist in residence program (various periods of time from weekend to month long) for work in the museum/studio and with public participation. The residency program encourages the development, education, outreach, and research within the areas of performance art, time-based media, new designs in technology, and the implementation of new media , including video, music, dance, film, installations, new musical instruments, open source systems, software and hardware innovations in performance based art. The curatorial vision will engage the education department in the areas of emergent media, human-computer interaction. immersive, multimodal, interactive art installations, computer mediated art, interactive and electronic objects and environments, multimedia, digital video, 3D Modeling, 4D Modeling, experimental 3D computer sculpture, experimental and traditional 3D animation, locative media, art & biology, digital imaging, rapid prototyping, media application integration, holography, net art, mixed realities installation, sound, glass, ceramics, printmaking, music systems programming, direct digital synthesis-processing and composition, and new genres. The museum will continue to develop residencies in science, nanotechnology, biotechnology, and behavior scripting as they relate to the visual and spatial arts. Visiting scholars will engage in lectures, exhibitions, and research. New media issues that center on computational design, advanced ‘generative’ computational methodologies, algorithmic morphogenesis, transarchitectures, motion capture, computer generated real-time broadcasting, mathematical constructs, quantum mechanics, and vision-based interaction are key components of the emerging technological focus of of TCMOCA. Educational programs will also include children's workshops in conjunction with exhibitions as well as monthly/weekly classes on various pertinent topic themes, basic artists elements, story telling and performance. Adult classes will fall on a monthly basis to follow current issues in the world of art and social justice. The museum will develop a tour guide training program. All museum professional and supportive staff forums on subjects pertinent to the running of the TCMOCA and its engagement within the community will also be developed and maintained throughout the year. _____________________________________________________________________________________ Get involved!
